About Iyengar Yoga

 

Iyengar yoga begins as a posture-based class with an emphasis on alignment and understanding physical action. The Iyengar technique is to hold and sustain the postures whilst adjusting your body with understanding.

 

Characterised by great attention to detail and focus, Iyengar pioneered the use of props such as blankets, belts, and blocks. This technique aids beginners and those with stiffness to experience yoga more easily and fully than might otherwise be possible.

 

The Iyengar technique also helps experienced students to more clearly understand the body. Yogic practise teaches us that continuous learning is vital to progress.

 

Standing postures build strength and bring increased vitality, better circulation, co-ordination and balance providing a foundation for more advances poses.

 

People with all levels of experience are accomodated. 

 

Levels of experience 

 

  • Beginner - no experience  - 6 mo

  • General  - 6 mo - 2 yrs experience

  • Intermediate -  2 years +
